Both IE School of Global and Public Affairs and UNDP will advance their development activities to address the complex challenges associated with the 2030 Agenda.

New York & Madrid, May 6, 2021 - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the School of Global and Public Affairs of IE University have signed an agreement to join forces to build capacities, innovative solutions and thought leadership for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Both IE School of Global and Public Affairs and UNDP will advance their development activities to address the complex challenges associated with the 2030 Agenda.

“For UNDP, partnerships with top academic institutions like IE University are fundamental to build capacities that can foster the implementation of the 2030 Agenda,” highlighted UNDP Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Luis Felipe López Calva. “This partnership is even more important in the context of the response to the Covid-19 pandemic in the region,” he added.

The agreement considers several areas of collaboration to promote sustainable social, economic, and environmental prosperity in line with the 2030 Agenda. These activities include the organization and promotion of joint initiatives and materials for capacity building, the exchange of experts as speakers and professors, and the engagement in academic programs through consultancy-type projects, field visits and internships or fellowships.

“At IE University, we believe that we are as strong as the partnerships we can develop to fulfil our mandate of developing future leaders who will embrace sustainability as a core objective of societies. Therefore, it is a pleasure to join forces with UNDP,” said Susana Malcorra, Dean of IE School of Global and Public Affairs. “Through our shared contributions, we hope to make a strong impact in our portfolio of knowledge and content by capturing the perspective from the field reaching out to broader audiences,” she concluded.
