Sergei Soares

Degree in Physics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1990) and Master's (1995) and Doctorate (2010) in Economics from the University of Brasilia (2010). In 2015 he became a member of the IPC-IG as a Senior Researcher.

He was president of IPEA from May 2014 to April 2015. Same institution where he has been a researcher since 1998, working on issues of inequality, poverty, education, racial discrimination and labor markets. His focus areas are economics and econometrics, with emphasis on the economic part of social assistance. Previously, he has worked in the Brazilian Ministry of Education and in the World Bank, in the area of ​​education.
