Marcela Eslava

Professor and Dean of Economics at the Universidad de Los Andes, in Bogotá, and research associated to the SMEs program of Innovations for Poverty Action. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Maryland at College Park. Her current research agenda focuses on the relationship between business dynamics, productivity and regulations. Her research has served as input in the discussion of public policies in different international instances, and has been published in prestigious international academic journals, such as the American Economic Review; Journal of Development Economics; Journal of Public Economics; Review of Economics and Statistics; and Review of Economic Dynamics.

She has been awarded distinctions such as the Research and Development Medal of the Global Development Network, and the appointment as Mario Henrique Simonsen Memorial Lecturer of the Latin American chapter of the Econometric Society. She was co-editor of Economia, the scientific journal of the Economic Association of Latin America and the Caribbean, LACEA, and member of the Executive Committee of this association. She is an elected member of the Regional Committee for Latin America of the Econometric Society, 2018-2022, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Research Institute for Development, Growth and Economics, RIDGE, 2018-2020.
