John Scott Andretta

Professor-Researcher of the Economics Division of the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) and Academic Counselor of the National Council for Evaluation of Social Development Policy (CONEVAL).

He holds a BA in Philosophy from the New York University (NYU), and graduate studies from Oxford University. His research areas include the study of poverty and inequality and the distributive incidence of public spending, the design and evaluation of social policy and rural development policies, agricultural and energy subsidies, health economics and social security. He has published various academic works on these topics, as well as research reports on public policies for multiple international organizations (World Bank, OECD, UNDP, Inter-American Development Bank, FAO, ECLAC) as well as national organizations (SAGARPA, SEDESOL, SHCP, Ministry of Health, Secretary of Labor). He has recently completed a book manuscript that synthesizes this research agenda, The Political Economy of Inequality in Mexico.
